Heartbeat drops
I'm sleepy but not tired
at 4:26 am
Engine's off
A half hour ago or so
and everyone has a story
he tells me.
It's a brand new pulse
of words and sounds
that I thought had gone
extinct.
Hope, almost.
And the clock ticks past five
as my eyes drop and lull me to sleep.
